This radio is a part of radio history... it follows the original HRO 1934 James Millen design by National Radio Company in Mass. This radio was manufactured for the British towards the end of WW2. It was ordered with anti-fungal coating on chassis. This was for use in Malaysia, Asia, and other locations. The majority of the order was cancelled as the war ended, and most never left the US. Many were converted to quasi-HRO-5A1 type receivers. The coils were made for general coverage only. This model was reportedly a bit more sensitive than the usual HRO. The "s" meter that was original was a "0 - 1ma" meter, not the conventional National "S" meter. The meter shown on this radio is electrically same, but not standard HRO-W meter.

Personal Note: I took this very receiver to Hawaii from 1993-1999 and operated it from the edge of Kaneohe Bay, Ohau, Hawaii as KH6/WB6FZH. I used a WW2 US NAVY TCS-12 Transmitter on 160, 80, 40 and 30 meters. It was probably the last WW2 era radio equipment operated from the islands. It is a privilege to operate WW2 era equipment today using CW. It is currently located in Northern California.

More information to be posted later.
